Okuma Swimbait rod

I am new to Swimbait fishing and realized I needed heavier rods to throw heavy baits. After research(which one and cost), I decided the Okuma was a price-performer. Amazon had the best price I could find.
The rod launches a 5 oz. Huddleston with no problem. Good backbone and good tip action for heavy baits. Had to send 2 back (broke in shipment).

Can’t beat it with a STIK!

Okuma Swim Bait rods are a great value. In my book just like an Ugly Stik, which are all of my other rods I use for charter customers.

From Big Redbass to even Speckled trout, I got these to throw BIG lures, like the Dahlberg Wide-Glide at 5 ounces and 8″.

High quality components and so far I’ve owned 4 of these and am very happy.

The rods have alot of quality guides and features that rods that cost twice as much have.

BIG fish, and BIG baits. Is what these rods are for.

Awesome rod

I use this rod for all types of things. I use it for large swimbaits when I am bass fishing, and I use it for smaller musky lures (crankbaits, mini dawgs, jerkbaits,x-raps). It works for anything I throw, and handles anything I catch on it. Great product!

I am currently updating my fly fishing equipment. I bought my ‘used’ Okuma SLV rod from Amazon for next-to-nothing. It deserves every bit of the 5-star rating that I gave it. The writeups that Amazon presents for the Okuma SLV and the Crisium rods are wrong, inaccurate if you think wrong is too strong. I went onto the Akuma site to get information about these 2 rods. However, I’m only going to write about the SLV rod.
Compared to my 25 year old rod the SLV rod is astounding. It’s a single wt. rod, not the dual wt. 5/6 wt. rod that Amazon advertized. It is a medium-fast rod which means that you can cast much farther than with a medium rod and, it’s going to be hard for many beginner fishermen to control the cast. A little practice will change that. Personally, I’ve been piling alot of line on top of my flies lately. I’m used to a moderate rod. This rod is going to be dynamite when I get used to it.
I paired the rod with an Okuma 5/6 wt. SLV reel. The combination of the rod and reel is ultralite. I’m running 5 wt. line on my rig presently and, 6 wt. line on my spare spool. Even if you pay Amazon’s regular price, you will get an excellent deal. Enjoy, I sure am.

Just the right feel.

I bought a 10/11 SLV rod (fishes more like an 11) for Baja and was so impressed that I bought a 6wt after my G.Loomis blank rod cracked. So far I can tell you that this rod fishes like a much more expensive stick with just the right kind of moderate-fast action I like. It is relatively light and yet I feel like I can throw just as far as with similar rods I own that cost about 8X more.

Can’t speak for the durability yet, but so far so good. If you’re on the fence about this one, you should just buy it.

Okuma Fin Chaser Rig Rod

The fisheries of the Northeast and Northwest have been in turmout to say the least. However the future looks bright. The lake trout have come back strong in the last few years and the Northwest rivers are seeing the firmest runs of salmon and steelhead in recent history. With input from a heap of of the top fishermen on these waters we devised the Celilo series. Throwing modesty out the window we nailed these actions and produced the perfective salmon, trout and bottom bouncing graphite rods. Although beautiful, you don’t have to take out that second mortgage to load the boat with them.

for the price this pole out preforms all others in its class. you can feel what the lure is doing its intense . i fish 2 times a week and have a lot of high priced rods but love this rod the best .

Great for trout

A great rod for trout, even the larger ones. Fishing with 3 lb test green Maxima line on Stradic 2500fh reel, it turns the fish quickly. I prefer them to the Daiwa graphite rods I’ve had.
